This has been a hard week sticking to the North Shore. I have come to realize something very important. I've known it to be true, but this week just made it all the more obvious.
It's the combination of exercise and healthy eating that makes for a successful program. I have found this to be very evident. Not only do you see greater results, but doing one helps the other. The more I work out the more my body craves water and vegetables and healthy food choices. The healthier I eat I more my body wants to be active. Also I have noticed the more I move, the more I move. Get it!?! The act of being active produces more action.
Like I said, this has been a hard week for me and my challenge. Not being able to work out because of my "injury", has me feeling slow and like I've failed. I have tried to be extra careful about my eating habits this week. My hope is that there was, in the least, no weight gained. We'll see soon enough.
My challenge to you for today. If you have two working legs and feet, get walking! Walk a couple miles for me!
My Goal . . .
to be a healthier better me
to be active everyday & to make healthy choices
to maybe one day weigh less than my Dad!

So after seeing Jenni who has lost 40 pounds over the last 6 months (?) and hearing that Krisit looks really good and knowing that she has been working out I finally have decided that today is the day I start walking. I'm hoping to lose at least 15 pounds by the time we leave for Callie. 20lbs would be even better but I'm not to confident that that will happen in two months. Ultimately I would like to be between 125 & 130 but would even be happy with 135. I think that I would need to lose 30 pounds to hit 135. Haven't weighed myself in awhile though.
Great news! Set a goal and stick to it. Come up with a plan on how you are going to get there and stick it. Monitor your progress. Although tough for sure the first time, you need to step on a scale and weigh in weekly. That way you can see your progress. It is amazing the feeling when you see that what you are doing has worked. And if it hasn't then you know you need to change things up.
alright so I did it. i walked for 45 minutes or so. i did one of the weight loss programs on our treadmill and then walked for another 15 minutes. I'm hoping to do it again tomorrow. i know that I won't be doing no 9 miles a day but something is better than nothing right?
Excellent News! How do you feel?
Stick to it. Make a plan to walk at least 5 times a week, or what ever you decide to do. Don't let your workout today be in vain!!!!
i walked again today! I'll have to weigh myself at Martin and Rene's on Friday!
Nice.
I was given the ok by the good doctor to go ahead and TRY working out. This is good news.
I have read that you should not walk more than three days a week if you are trying to loose weight. giving your body time to rest between each day or working out some other way to get stronger??? It's just what I read. Take it or leave it.
3B - interesting info. I've never heard that. I have heard that you shouldn't workout the same muscules, if you lift weights, everyday. You are suppose to give each muscule group a day to heal. I'll look more into the walking thing though.
